Travelling to [mine]

Carshalton is located 10 miles (16.1 km) south-southwest of Charing Cross in the valley of the River Wandle, one of the sources of which is Carshalton Ponds. The ponds are located in the centre of the village and a stones throw from the gallery, which occupies a prominent position in the conservation area on the south side of the high street (which forms part of the A232).

Originally built as a fishmongers, the impressive double fronted gallery facade, complete with flagpole and union jack, consists of four very large north facing windows. Two of the windows form part of the wide entrance porch and provide clear views into the gallery from the street and, more importantly, from the 18,000 plus vehicles that drive past on a daily basis.
