Hana Horack

Hana Horack, is an emerging artist of palestinian, german/italian descent. After studying Anthropology and Sociology, and then Islamic Studies at SOAS, she returned to her true vocation: art, as a way of communicating that which can barely be written. She has worked and shown successfully in Austria, and was invited by the Austrian Art Association to represent Austria at a residency in Tunisia. Since returning to the UK only two years ago she has shown at the Royal Academy of Arts Summer Exhibition 2009 and at the ING Discerning Eye 2009 in the Mall Galleries. She was  invited, by Samiart (www.samiart.com), to design and create a calligraphy on silk for HRH Prince Charles, that was presented to him at the "Spirituality in Action Day" at Old Trafford this year.  The jgallery were very happy to have two of her paintings in their 2010 spring open, In the Mix, in Northampton, where her work was "much admired," Sue Brooks, curator.
Her work has also been in the eggspace winter show in Liverpool, the Battersea Contemporary Art Fair and the Islington Arts Factory.  This year she applied for the John Moores exhibition and was one of 260 artists (out of 3000 applicants) whose work was shortlisted to be viewed by the judges, the competition was very fierce and only 40 works were selected, not hers this time, good going though!

INTENT:  The main concerns are spiritual, and a need to follow the connection to that which unifies us in our diversity. Materials are used as they are, intuitively, deemed appropriate.  Ultimately, my intention is not to limit  the Process, thus allowing what will be, into existence.
"This is fantastic work with integrity."
