Alasdair Hutchison
Alasdair Hutchison was born in London in 1973. Self-taught in
photography, but a geologist by training, studying and applying in the
hills of Scotland and around the world. Photographic interests;
architecture, especially empty spaces concentrating on the play of
light, stillness where many people should be. Any marks left by people
suggesting their character and history in their absence. Landscape also
for the play of light and relationship to the people who shape it and
use it. Exploring mild photographic distortion, creating effects using
analogue where possible, avoiding Photoshop, using film and paper.
Portraiture for form, using people as shapes.
