EXHIBITION DATES
Friday 8 November until Sunday 24 November 2013
Charles Summers is an associate of the Ruralists and has lived and worked in Cornwall for many years.
In 2012, as a Freeman of the Worshipful Company of Fan Makers, Charles was commissioned to make a Diamond Jubilee fan for Her Majesty The Queen. A limited edition fine art print of the Diamond Jubilee Fan will be on show during the exhibition.
Charles is a self-taught painter obsessed by the natural world; English landscapes, the rain forests of Asia and Central and South America and, more recently, the Sahara desert. He has been on expeditions to Malaysia, North Borneo, Java, Indonesia, Panama, Dominica, and Belize. His paintings can now be found in collections worldwide.
Charles has exhibited regularly at the Royal Horticultural Society, from which he has received a number of awards, including two gold medals. In 1980 he produced the design for a Chelsea commemorative plate and in 2000 painted a fan for the Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother. In 2007 Charles was asked to paint a fan for the Duchess of Cornwall and he is currently painting another for H.R.H.
[mine] is delighted to be presenting an exhibition of Charles' paintings, collages and fan prints.
